Biography

Licio Gelli (1919-2015), known as "The Puppetmaster," led the secret P2 Masonic lodge that infiltrated the highest levels of Italian power. A former fascist who fought with Mussolini and later worked with both CIA and KGB, he transformed P2 into a shadow government.

When police raided his villa in 1981, they found membership lists naming 962 members: 3 cabinet ministers, 43 MPs, military chiefs, intelligence officers, industrialists, journalists, and a young Silvio Berlusconi (#1816). His "Plan for Democratic Rebirth" outlined a strategy to control Italy.

Connected to the Banco Ambrosiano collapse, the Bologna train station bombing (85 dead), and various right-wing terrorist networks, Gelli spent his final years under house arrest, never fully accounting for his crimes.

Key roles: P2 Grandmaster (1970s-1981) Born: April 21, 1919, Pistoia Died: December 15, 2015, Arezzo
